EMILY AND CONNOR// COOPER'S ROCK STATE PARK, WV

Engagement photos are more than just pictures; they are a snapshot of your love story, a prelude to your next adventure as husband and wife. These photographs are not just mere images but vivid storytellers of the romance that has unfolded. Creating the perfect engagement photos, the kind that seem to leap straight out of a Pinterest board and into real life, is all about preparation, creativity, and a touch of magic. Here are some essential tips to guide you through the process, ensuring that your photos are not only beautiful but also uniquely yours.

The journey to those dream-worthy pictures begins with choosing the right photographer, someone whose style resonates with your vision and personality. This choice is crucial as it sets the tone for the entire shoot. Look for a photographer who not only has a portfolio you love but also understands the essence of capturing genuine moments and emotions.

"Location, location, location" There is a reason for that saying! The setting of your engagement photos should reflect your relationship's personality—whether it's the place where you first met, your favorite café, or a stunning natural landscape that speaks to your shared sense of adventure. Timing is equally important; golden hour, the time just after sunrise or before sunset, provides soft, flattering light that can add a magical quality to your photos. Additionally, choosing the right season can also impact the ambiance of the session. Whether it’s the fresh blossoms of spring, the vibrant colors of fall, or the serene snowscapes of winter, every season has its charm and can contribute to the mood of the photos.

For Emily and Connor's engagement session, they chose the picturesque background of Cooper's Rock State Park located in West Virginia. Not only does one feel amongst the clouds at the lookout points, but the rock formations and quiet stillness of the forest make one feel a part of a fairy tale. Choosing Cooper's Rock State Park for their engagement shoot was a heartstring-tugging decision for Emily and Connor. This magical spot was where Connor popped the big question, forever etching it with sentimental sparkle for these two lovebirds. Surrounded by nature's splendor, their photo session became a symphony of emotions and closeness. With the park's beauty intertwined with their love story, the photoshoot became a treasure trove of special moments in a one-of-a-kind setting.

"But what will I wear?!" Outfits are essential to a cohesive look to the photos. To avoid the pitfall of being overly matchy-matchy, focus on coordinating rather than exact matching. Select a color palette for you and your fiance and don't be afraid to incorporate your individual personalities within those hues. Different textures, like lace or velvet, patterns, and accessories can also add an additional "oompf" to your photos.

Emily wore a beautiful rust color velevt dress purchased from Baltic born and Connor chose a tweed vest with a cream colored shirt and grey pants, complimenting Emily's dress perfectly. Later, Emily changed into a White dress for a More bridal look and Connor's exchanged his cream colored shirt for a black button down shirt with rust and black colored tie.

Be yourselves!

The magic of your engagement photos lies in the authenticity of your connection and love for each other. All of these other pieces have no meaning without you and your love story. Let your personalities shine through by incorporating elements that are uniquely you, whether it's a shared hobby, your favorite books, or even your pets. Put your trust in me as your photographer, and relax and enjoy the moment. Engage with each other naturally, laugh, hug, kiss, and let those spontaneous moments happen. Remember, the goal is to capture the essence of your relationship, the laughter, the tender glances, and even the silly moments. Authenticity shines brightest. By staying true to who you are as a couple, you ensure that your engagement photos are not only Pinterest-worthy but also timeless memories of this special chapter in your love story.
